Computational Systems Imaging
The research interests of the Shoghi lab are cross-disciplinary spanning biology of disease mechanisms, engineering and imaging sciences & informatics. Current projects include multi-tissue quantitative systems imaging. We use computational biology and computational imaging to characterize and quantify biological processes such as metabolism and signal transduction pathways, among others, in-vivo, in health and disease. Image quantification is accomplished through mathematical and statistical modeling of multi-modality image data. We are also developing artificial tissue systems to enable discovery and validation of imaging and therapeutic biomarkers. Finally, to facilitate these efforts, our group is also working on image processing and quantification algorithms to integrate information across imaging modalities.
